Canon HV20 + Twoneil 35mm + 50mm Nikon Nikkor - DIY Test
3.24.08 This was the first test shoot with Twoneil's DIY 35mm adapter attachment for my Canon HV20. There's a few things I learned in the process and all it takes is more practice and patience and a steady hand. 1) Always re-check the orientation of your adapter before hitting record. (otherwise, you'll have a little black dash in the top corners of your video like I do in some of the shots)(oops) 2)Remember to also turn on the vibrating thingy after hitting record on the camera. Then, remember to turn it back off. 3)Set the HV20 Exposure (EXP) to manual. Otherwise the lighting jumps all over the place. Do the cellphone trick to set the f stop to your desired exposure. 4)Have plenty of light. Sunlight is always cool. 5)Invest in a focusing mechanism. Focusing a vibrating shaft full of lenses with moving subject matters are near impossible by hand alone. 6)Try to always use a tripod or steadicam device. 7)If possible, find an external viewfinder for the inverted images. Otherwise, have fun twisting your head upside down and/or panning/tilting the wrong direction. 8)Mess with the f stops until it just looks right. As long as it looks cool for you, rock it out. 9)If you are shooting your little one and he starts crying while you are focusing your focus rings, he's trying to tell you something. "Turn the f'n thing off and change my pants!" 10)Have a loving and supportive spouse that allows you to photograph his/her child for the world to see. :) **** The Music is a clip called, '"One Must Believe" from the feature film I scored, "Semum".
